John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has touched many people with his songs. Many of these have roots in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. More than a few people took the road to Colorado following the Denver's cult anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He has become the personification of the state to everyone around the world. On my trips, I've met people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado The first thing they'll say is Oh John Denver. Brown explained. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with small folk bands. The song was written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version he knew right away the track could become a hit single. Danoff recorded the song a couple of days after having performed in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
